Our second Regional Final in North England for the Big Ideas Competition 2023 will be taking place at the University of Sunderland on Friday 19th May.

We’re excited to be joined by 10 teams from 4 schools in North England who will present their Big Ideas to a panel of judges, made up of representatives from our Business Partners, Solutions for the Planet, professionals in the STEM/Sustainability/Education/Youth spheres, plus our very special young person judges. A flying Vaccum powered by renewable batteries which will take pollution out of the air.

Aviv Car Foundation

King James 1 Academy

A charity which produces cars that are powered by hydrogen and sodium hydroxide.

A service that will deliver quality, eco-friendly products that will improve your quality of life while saviing animals, plants and the planet. Examples of our products include a bamboo toothbrush and plastic free chewing gum.

Bin It

North Durham Academy

A bin which rewards people who put dog waste in the bin designed to help the environment by cleaning all the dog waste on the streets which could cause less disease and safer / cleaner streets.

The Cleanhouse Effect

North Durham Academy

A campaign for electic cars and how they can support the environment in the future.

Robot-Powerade

North Durham Academy

A robot that is programmed to go and pick up waste and plastic. It has sensors which allow it to sort out the waste into what can be recycled in the future.

The Wind Riders

Outwood Academy Redcar

A hybrid car with a fan similar to a wind turbine inside the grill on both sides and is connected to the battery of the car. The wind power will also charge the battery of the car.

A service which will collect all the litter in Redcar to make statues and raise awareness about the issue of litter in the local area. We will draw attention and rasie awareness while educating people about the issue.

An app that allows you to scan litter for money. By picking up the litter and taking it to the nearest station you can exchange it for coupons and discounts.

The Biodome

Outwood Academy Redcar

A glass dome which will be situated on the ocean and will collect and recycle the plastic in the ocean.
