Central England Regional Final: University of Wolverhampton

Our second Regional Final in Central England for the Big Ideas Competition 2023 will be taking place at the University of Wolverhampton on Wednesday 24th May.

We’re excited to be joined by 12 teams from 4 schools in Central England who will present their Big Ideas to a panel of judges, made up of representatives from our Business Partners, Solutions for the Planet, professionals in the STEM/Sustainability/Education/Youth spheres, plus our very special young person judges. Rain Forest Matters

Colton Hills Community School

An app and campaign to highlight the importance of saving the forest. The app will teach people of all ages, and will raise awareness of the state of the rainforest.

Eco-Duo

Colton Hills Community School

A water filter that turns rain into clean drinkable water. The filter will remove any debris and then a UV light will be used to kill any bacteria and diseases that may exist within the water. This will make the water drinkable and useable In the future.

H2Reused

Colton Hills Community School

A product that will use Biomass produced in households to cover 30% of the use of generating power in every house. The generator will be attached to the house.

Producing and promoting sustainable products such as recyclable plate boxes and cups which can be used for a range of occasions such as short term (festivals) and long term (for permenant use at home).

Energy Chargers

Heath Park School

A service collecting used cooking oil / fats from households. Their service will then collect and give these collected oils to a company called Cater Oils who will turn it into energy to fuel the households.

Oxisavers

Heath Park School

An app for people to use when they are travelling. They will receive points for travelling in non-diesel/petrol cars and points for using public transport. They will be able to redeem points for rewards. Encouraging people to use more environmentally friendly modes of transport.

Heath Park School

A service / app that promotes walking and you gain points so you can update your avatar and surroundings.

Domestastic

Moseley Park School

A dome that removes harmful gases from the atmosphere which can then be converted into enrgy through powering a sustainable powerplant.

Eco-Exhaust

Moseley Park School

A filter that reduces the bad emissions from car exhausts. It will help produce more oxygen than C02.

Team Trees Go

Moseley Park School

Sustainable man made trees which will be situated in forests at danger to protect them. They will be able to detect forest fires and any trees in danger of being cut down.

Re-Smart

Perton Middle School

It’s a smart bin! This bin will convert rubbish into fuel using the crusher in the bin. The bin itself makes the fuel with a built in part which oxidises the rubbish to fuel.

Re-SeaVing

Perton Middle School

A robotic squid that collects plastic from the ocean for 48 hours until it needs to be charged. The plastic that is collected from our product will then be transformed into items that we can sell to people who are interested in buying sustainable products.
