Our fifth Regional Final for the Big Ideas Competition 2024 will be taking place at the University of East London on Thursday 23rd May.

We’re excited to be joined by 11 teams from 4 schools in South England who will present their Big Ideas to a panel of judges, made up of representatives from our Business Partners, Solutions for the Planet, professionals in the STEM/Sustainability/Education/Youth spheres, plus our very special Young Person judges. A motivational bike, aimed at young people, that turns pedal power into electricity to charge items.

Providing more affordable energy in the form of biomass electricity using food waste and neutralising methane.

Vita Verde

Converting food waste from people it into biochar in order to install green roofs into their houses.

C-Bot

A solar powered camouflage device which can detect animals trapped by rubbish to alert the coast guard as well as cleaning up rubbish itself.

Forge

Apprenticeships to train seamstresses to create a team who sustainably produce textile products from recycled items and focus on provisions for those in need.

Road Rush

A bot that cleans rubbish from the streets and re-purposes recyclable materials.

Non-profit campaign/service which will provide people with free and good quality education.

Recycled metal machine that purifies air.

Turd Turbines

Gladesmore Community School

Using turbines in sewage treatment plants that utilise the flow of waste water to create energy.

Plug Bug

Gladesmore Community School

Plug Bug will be linked to an app and your electricity points and be able to remind you if things are left on and turn them off automatically for you as well.
