“The perfect opportunity to learn more about careers in the growing energy sector”

I was inspired to get involved with the Young Innovators Council because I hope that I will learn about different careers within energy and how I would get there. It has allowed me to discuss current issues surrounding energy with people of a similar age who are all passionate about similar topics as myself.  

I also aspire to develop my communication skills by gaining the experience of working with a wide group of people. After having two meetings, it is already evident how inclusive the group is because there have been many discussions where everyone’s point of views has been considered. This has allowed us to grow in confidence and helped to develop our understanding of other people’s opinions.  

I believe it is vital for organisations such as Northern Gas Networks to engage with and listen to young people because they will hugely benefit from hearing our views. It is very important for these companies to know what they should offer in order to make young people interested in a career in that sector.
