“I have made changes to my own behaviour to help protect the planet”

The Big Ideas programme is more than just a programme. It is an opportunity that allows you to learn and change yourself. For me, my perspectives on the world have changed; it has made me realise how much damage we have caused. I am grateful to be a part of this programme!

I have made changes to my own behaviour to help protect the planet, for example I started recycling more and try to use as little plastic as possible. I have shared my journey with my family. This has changed our whole perspective and we have been doing our best to take care of the earth, like planting half of our garden with plants and trees. 

I can confidently speak to people around me and tell them how we can make a massive impact through one little change. Even if it is turning off the tap when we are not using it.

I am also much more interested in science, technology, engineering or maths learning than I was before. I have used some different ways of learning in this programme that could help me learn about other things and other subjects in the future and I have improved my skills of finding reliable (trustworthy) information and not believing everything that I see or read.

I would like to say thank you to my teachers for letting me be a part of the Big Ideas Programme! You have supported JACKL with every step. I cannot explain how grateful I am to have had this opportunity. 

This programme is very important to me, it has made me a better person overall. Not only has my knowledge of sustainability issues improved, but I have a better understanding of how to help solve them!
