I feel so excited and passionate to be a part of an organisation that aims to spark curiosity and empower young people to think BIG about solutions to sustainable and environmental issues. It’s so important for young people to feel like they have an integral part in our future and how their ideas can help change the planet to become a better and more sustainable place for everyone and everything that shares it.”

Lucy studied Art and Design Foundation Diploma at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2021 before moving to Nottingham to complete her BA(Hons) in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. For the past year, she has enjoyed working as an Art and Design Technician at West Nottinghamshire College and has recently chosen to work freelance to pursue her goals as a workshop facilitator and professional artist.

Since graduating university, Lucy has worked with young people in schools, galleries, youth centres and community events, delivering interactive sessions that spark curiosity and encourage confidence and creativity. Many of which have been organised by ChalleNGe (Nottingham’s Cultural Education Partnership) and their youth board Connecting Notts, of which Lucy is currently chair of.

Her experience working in education has demonstrated to her just how crucial it is, to create inclusive spaces where young people feel inspired to think differently and express bold ideas. As an artist and educator, Lucy have developed a range of skills that combine storytelling, performance and hands-on exploration to encourage curiosity and problem-solving. Ideas that underpin her own experimental artistic practice and public workshops. Sustainability is at the heart of her art practice and personal interests. She wants her artwork to not only contextually highlight the issues surrounding sustainability but to also embody a response to it, creating alternative solutions in our relationships to materials.

When not at work, Lucy enjoys time in her at studio at Backlit Gallery, bouldering, meeting with Nottingham Buddhists Centre’s Sangha, as well as yoga, cycling, foraging and long walks in nature.
