“Because of the state of our economy, new technology push -as well as other factors-, it has become harder and harder for young people to start out their careers. So it is incredibly important for us young people to realise that and be proactive, and understand that while it is an unfair burden for some. We can’t ignore it; we have to prepare for it. It’s equally important for companies to understand that their futures lies in young people, and that denying and ignoring the growth of the new generation will only result in their own detriment. So at the end of the day, both sides needs the other, and both must have an responsibility to the other in order to allow everyone’s benefit”

Ali’s life has been quite the trip ! From Sudan, France to the UK, he has now turned to Scotland and is ready to push himself to the best he can be.

Born in Khartoum, he took the plane as a baby to spend his childhood in France ( and has kept both a trophy he won at a swimming competition and a French flag with him as souvenirs). Before, moving to London and eventually settling in Glasgow for his further education. Currently, He is S5 ( or year 13 ) and a class captain aiming at 5 As at the end of his school year in Cleveden Secondary School. His ideology? To prepare like every day is your last to prepare, to always give it your best, and to aim for more than you thought you could do.

Outside of school work, he is an active trumpet player and often performs in the Glasgow School Symphony orchestra, senior brass ensemble, symphony wind band and Big Band as second trumpet/section leader. He is also a badminton, boxing and swimming enthusiast and is quite fond of drawing and photography from time to time…
