"The problem we have chosen to tackle is air pollution from cars. In the first five days of 2017, London exceeded the annual air pollution limit. If this continues, by 2050, 3.6 million people will die each year due to air pollution, according to an OECD report. Long term effects include global warming, which is the result of burning fossil fuels for energy and this releases carbon dioxide and other toxins into the Earth’s atmosphere."
"Our idea is a service. We want to collect old bikes from people because they can easily go to waste, and after upcycling the the parts from these bikes to make new bikes, we want to create Rent-A-Bike. When you ride one of the R-A-B bikes, the distance you travel determines how many points you collect. When you reach a certain amount of points, you can upgrade to a better bike."
"Our idea will benefit people of all ages. It can help people go to places instead of having to purchase a bike or having to take the bus/go in a car. It can also be a way for people to stay healthy exercise more. If more people use bikes, over time, there will be a noticeable decrease in the amount of pollution from cars."
