"We want to stop plastics from entering the oceans worldwide. We chose this problem because, people love the beach and enjoy being there but, with plastics washing onto the shore and floating in the sea. According to a study from Plymouth University, plastic pollution affects at least 700 marine species, while some estimates suggest that at 100 million marine mammals are killed each year from plastic entering the sea. By picking plastics, we are rescuing many marine lives."
"Our big idea is to create a campaign against plastic entering the oceans. We plan to recruit volunteers that don’t have a beach nearby and take them to a British beach to help us collect up plastics that have entered the sea and plastics that have washed up onto the shores. We want to take people who don’t live near beaches, or have never visited a beach so that they can enjoy this new experience."
"Our big idea benefits both wildlife and humans. By cleaning plastic and other rubbish from the beach, we are rescuing many marine lives. Our idea benefits the elderly and teenagers because it gives them a chance to socialize with others while also taking in part in a meaningful activity. This experience will also get people out and about beyond their usual environment."
