“The beauty of Solutions for the Planet is that it provides young people with the opportunity to learn collaboratively in a group about a topic of interest to them and to create an outcome of real benefit to others. They have to be resilient and think of ways around the problems they encounter during the project.”
My career has been spent as a history teacher and Head of Department in comprehensive schools. More recently, as an Assistant Headteacher, I have been involved with applying developments in the learning sciences to teaching and learning on a whole school basis and introducing integrated topics into the Year 7 and Year 8 curriculum.
I believe that the purpose of education is to nurture a growth mindset in young people to enable them to become the best they can be and thrive as 21st century citizens.
