On Monday 11th October we welcomed Matt Ronayne to the Solutions for the Planet team, read more about his first two weeks below.
What a whirlwind!! I started as a Big Ideas Programme Coordinator based in North England two weeks ago and the time has flown by. This is a career change for me, and I already feel confident in saying it was the right choice.
I have loved finding out more and more about S4TP. I question every day how this small but mighty team have already achieved so much. The possibilities for the future are endless and I have lots of exciting ideas ready to share. This is an exciting time to be working for a social enterprise that is focusing on sustainability and working with young children. I don’t know if it is just because I have started working for a sustainability business, or because COP26 is nearly upon us, but it is EVERYWHERE in the news. I no longer feel as overwhelmed as I did as I believe that S4TP is putting the keys back in the hands of the younger generation.
I am so excited to be working on Big Idea days (particularly in the North), I am thrilled to meet and work with the young people in schools alongside our wonderful mentors. No day is like the last there is lots to get prepared for the busy season and make sure that we have some wonderful Big Ideas to bring forward in our finals next year!
I think it is so important that we all share our ideas and solutions as a society to solve any issues we are facing globally. There will be lots of children throughout the UK this year working on the Big Ideas Programme, and I think we can all learn a lot from the creativity and ideas they are going to bring to the table!
I am excited to grow in this role and discover even more. I hope to meet some of you soon when I am popping into schools.
