Solutions for the Planet is pleased to announce that in March 2021, the multi-disciplined UK Railway and Light Rail contractor ISS Labour joined our Business Partner Network, as a Big Ideas Programme Associate Partner.
Nicki Sunderland MBA, Central Services Director at ISS Labour said, “We are committed to supporting our industry’s mission to promote rail as a great place to work and to inspire the next generation of talent, especially young women and individuals from underrepresented communities, to develop and achieve successful and rewarding careers. S4TP’s Big Ideas Programme provides a wonderful platform that will support us in achieving our goals and facilitate an empowering engagement that will benefit not only the pupils we are working with but also our volunteer mentors. We look forward to the opportunities this partnership will bring and are excited for the future of the young people involved”
As an Associate Partner, ISS Labour will be supporting three schools in England with three employee volunteer mentors, as well as providing three representatives as judges at regional competition events.
The Big Ideas Programme is currently running in a very bespoke and individual way at 13 schools across England and Scotland, and virtual mentoring has begun at all of them. The teams are developing their ideas ready to submit them into the Big Ideas Competition on May 5th, after which they will be shortlisted for regional finals, culminating with the National Final supported by a cross-party group of MP’s on June 23rd.
Our CEO, Jen Baughan added, “Since my first discussion with Nicki at ISS Labour I knew that she just ‘got it’. ISS Labour understand the mutual benefits of the Big Ideas Programme for the young people and schools as well as their business and employee volunteer mentors (as well as the planet of course!). They are keen to use our partnership to promote careers in rail as well as a meaningful engagement opportunity within the communities they serve. I am thrilled to welcome ISS Labour on board and look forward to our partnership growing in the coming years”
The Big Ideas Programme has evolved considerably in 2021. We’ve improved and adapted our website capabilities and increased capacity to develop an online platform to engage with our Big Ideas student teams and operate more in the virtual environment, while also developing a new suite of resources to support the teams throughout the online programme. We see this as a great opportunity for us to grow our offer moving forward, and to this end, we’ve expanded and developed the ways that businesses can join us and lend their support.
We now offer two main types of partnership: full National, Regional and Local partnerships and Associate partnerships (regional ‘taster’ partnerships). We also offer special sponsorship opportunities for our Events and Awards. We are delighted to welcome ISS Labour on board, as our first Associate Partner to the Big Ideas Programme.
ISS Labour is joining our growing family of business partners, which include Tarmac, the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM), SGN, Mears Group, and Northern Gas Networks. Read about what a partnership with Solutions for the Planet means here, and contact us to find out more.
