The Virtual Big Ideas Competition 2020 has officially launched, we’ve had an incredible response from teachers, parents, students and mentors alike, so it’s full steam ahead! The S4TP team let us know what they’re looking forward to over the next couple of months:
Jen Baughan, CEO
It’s so important to try and look forward to the positives and the opportunities at times like these, when we are surrounded by a lot of negative media and challenges to our usual way of doing things. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to engage more directly (albeit virtually) with our Big Ideas students over the coming weeks. I am looking forward to hearing about the inventive ways that they have come up with to work together and collaborate. I’m really looking forward to seeing their faces when they submit their video pitches for the regional finals. Finally, (and this is something that I am not just looking forward to, but am already experiencing) I’m looking forward to waking up every day feeling inspired by the passion, dedication, motivation and creativity that all our Big Ideas regional finalists share with us. Let’s do this!
Sarah Milburn, Programme Manager
It’s been a whirlwind of a journey so far, and our tiny-but-mighty team has been working so hard behind the scenes to make sure that we can still provide a high-quality programme despite it having to be moved online. And when I see just how many people support us, and want to engage with us and see the Competition continue, it’s quite overwhelming. I am constantly humbled and amazed by what all of us are capable of when we work together and support each other, and it’s proven true once again now. I am looking forward to getting our website team forum function up and running and engaging with our fabulous young people and looking at the creative ways they find to complete our challenges. I’m looking forward to the next step of this new adventure!
Claire Fitton, Programme Coordinator, North England
The one thing that I believe gets me closer to success is always moving forward. This has never been truer than for the past month where we have been moving our programme online. The toughest challenges we may face in life can also become the best learning opportunities we will ever receive. Our strength going forward is often developed in these moments and this has proven true for us at Solutions for the Planet. Students and staff in the schools we work with have truly risen to the challenge and I am more excited than ever with what the next few months will bring. Students will be taking control of their learning being guided by us and business mentors and now more than ever some Big Ideas are needed. I CANNOT WAIT!
