Online applications are now open for the Big Bang Competition for young people.
Whether it’s a brand new project, or has been completed as part of another competition, all science, technology, engineering and maths projects are welcome. The Big Bang Competition is open to all 11-18-year olds in full-time education or training. Through the process of undertaking a project, we want them to build on and develop their skills and gain confidence and enthusiasm to take their journey with STEM even further.
Making do, sustainability and living a simpler life
July 12th is National Simplicity Day – a day to put technology away and get back to basics; reflect on the simpler things in life. Claire reflects on how we can be more positive about sustainability and more aware of the benefits of living a more frugal life:
On Wednesday June 26th, at the Palace of Westminster, Solutions for the Planet welcomed this year’s twelve teams to the National Final of the Big Ideas Competition 2019, and it was another day full of excitement and inspiration!
Each month we are introducing the wonderful mentors that support the Big Ideas programme, in a feature we call ‘Meet the Mentor’. The programme and the students on it simply would not be the same if we didn’t have this mentor support from our business and community partners, and the mentors themselves get an awful lot out of it too. Find out more about the range of interesting and diverse mentors we work with on our Meet the Mentors page on the website!
