  • Are you passionate about people and the planet and looking for a job with purpose?
  • Do you want to join a small award-winning social enterprise and play a key part in helping it grow?

If you answered yes to those four questions read on…

This advertisement seeks to replace a full-time Programme Coordinator previously based in West Yorkshire but whose work remit was recently extended to support newly-launched activity in Scotland. The arrangements made for the appointment need to cover work in both areas and could be a single appointment (based in West Yorkshire) or a job share (with one base in Glasgow/Edinburgh and one in West Yorkshire). We anticipate that there will be scope for incremental increases in hours in line with further expansion in these areas in the foreseeable future.

Please indicate on application which of these options you would prefer.

The posts will be home-based with travel across the region visiting schools and business partners. Some national travel to support events in other regions will also be required and this will be more frequent at the height of the programme (Nov – Feb) and will involve an overnight stay.

Introduction to Solutions for the Planet (S4TP)

S4TP is a multi-award-winning social enterprise which runs the Big Ideas programme, an annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), enterprise and sustainability programme involving teams of 11-14-year-olds  from participating schools. These young people are supported by business mentors to develop Big Ideas to solve big global problems, using a project-based learning methodology. Teams then compete in our Big Ideas National Competition, developing their Big Ideas as either school/community projects; small businesses or social enterprises; or initiatives taken on by our business partners.

Following five successful years delivering the programme in Yorkshire, the new Board of Directors decided to begin expanding the programme nationally in 2013. In September 2014 we launched the programme in the West Midlands and in September 2015 in South East England. In 2017 we expanded our West Midlands region to include Birmingham, our Yorkshire region to include the North of England and Scotland, our South East region to include Hampshire.

We are looking for an individual who can flourish in the role alongside the evolution of the organisation. The post-holder will need to be comfortable with remote management (by the CEO) and working without day-to-day supervision and be comfortable with local and national travel.

This is an exciting time to be joining Solutions for the Planet at a time of significant growth and development and will require a “can-do” and “muck-in” attitude.

Our Vision: A generation of young people ready and able to respond to 21st century sustainability challenges in innovative and enterprising ways.

Our Values:

  1. Sustainability
  2. Responsibility
  3. Communication
  4. Creativity and Innovation
  5. Partnership and Collaboration
