Build UK Members open sites to public

For a week beginning on Monday 27th March until Saturday 1st April, Build UK members will be opening the doors at their ‘live’ construction sites to the public. You can register to attend at a live site near you here.

You can register individually or go as a group to learn and see with your own eyes what a live construction site is really like.

If after visiting a construction site you feel you want to learn more, check out the GoConstruct website which includes a host of resources (lesson plans, projects etc) as well as a great quiz which directs people to specific job roles matching their qualifications, interests etc.

The construction industry accounts for 2.6 million jobs in the UK and by 2020 over 230,000 new roles will have been created! With thousands of young people on our Solutions for the Planet programme designing solutions to sustainability issues with the help of mentors from Brammer Buck & Hickman, IGEM, Tarmac and SGN, who knows what Big Ideas we will see go on to solve sustainability problems we are all affected by, and how many of those jobs will be taken by our programme participants?!
