Winning an Innovate UK award and Ecobuild’s Big Innovation Pitch competition – organised in association with Marks & Spencer, the company behind the Waterblade water and energy-saving adapter for taps has seen recognition from several prestigious organisations and industry awards. Highlights include winning two categories at the Water Industry Achievement Awards in May 2016; Outstanding Innovation 2016 and Most Innovative New Technology trophies.
About the innovation
The Waterblade fitting turns a small trickle of water into a thin sheet of water as wide as your hand. It operates at a flow of just 2.5 litres per minute, significantly lower than the standard tap rate of 10 litres per minute, delivering sizeable water and water heating costs. Waterblade says combined water, wastewater and associated energy savings could reach as high as £75 per tap per year.
“We are achieving considerable success in the commercial sector, with an ongoing rollout with RBS following an extremely successful trial at their Gogarburn head office. We are retrofitting to Anglian waters’ head offices and Northumbrian water have included Waterblade in two retro fit projects. We are growing overseas orders and interest, and even an order from the Houses of Parliament!” Nigel Bamford, Waterblade managing director said.
